A lot of new clients who visit Perfectionist Unisex Salon come having been recommended by friends and family. Over recent years, an increasing proportion of our client base travel from Croydon, just a short drive from our Thornton Heath dreadlock salon, looking for a beautiful natural hair style in the form of retwist locks, single plaits, inter locks and similar looks.
But many of these clients are embarking on a completely new adventure with these new looks, having sported the same hairstyle for many years. For their benefit, on this page we’ve looked to run through the differences between these different options, so you can make an informed decision. Croydon residents who’d like to discuss options on the phone or book in an appointment should call us directly on 020 8684 8187
Braid Locks – Looking for smaller locks that are easy to manage? Our dreadlock salon can set you up with stylish braid locks that are fairly easy to maintain, as long as they’re regularly tightened with a special tool. If you’re not comfortable with the maintenance side of things, just make the visit to our loctition, easily reachable from Croydon – we’ll keep them healthy and looking amazing.
Inter Locks – This technique is ideal for smaller locks, and involves parting the hair then locking it by beginning at the end of the hair, tying a knot. Then the hair is split into two sections, and the end of the hair is pulled through the loops created from bottom to top. As we work up the section, inter locks are formed in a way that almost looks like the hair’s been crocheted. It’s a distinct and fashionable look very popular amongst our Croydon clients.
Single Plaits – You don’t have to go “all-in” with braid locks, inter locks and similar styles. If you’re looking to make a statement, single plaits can be ideal. Single plaits can feature offsetting colours to really create an eye-catching look, or instead blend in seamlessly; it’s completely down to you.
Retwist Locs – So this is less of a style and more of a technique that we can use to help reimagine locks and restore them to their former glory. It keeps them tight and stops them from losing their shape, and growing in a way that isn’t palatable. Retwist locks sees us tuck away unnecessary hair, gather the targeted hair at the base of the lock, roll the dreadlock, re-pin hair and twist the next layer, finishing at the front of the head.
